Pass the pacifiers please

The pacifier pictured above does not pass the Chilo test.

When it comes to preferences, everybody has them. So why I was surprised when my niece (then only 3-weeks-old) let her preference for pacifiers be known?

I was picking up some Doc Brown bottles at Burlington Coat Factory one day when I noticed an entire wall of really cute, colorful pacifiers. I knew that she had loved her Gumdrop pacifiers since birth, but that doesn’t mean she might not like other brands as well. Right?

Wrong. Despite the cuteness factor (Mickey and Minnie, Dora the Explorer, and the Disney Princess gang) and the buffet of pacifier options (Nuks, RazBabies, MAMs), Chilo had and still has no interest in non-Gumdrop pacifiers. We’d try to pull the ol’ pacifier switch (replacing her favorite pacifier with a different brand), but she’d have none of it. She’d spit them out as fast as we could put them in.

So I conceded. Here’s Chilo posing with her favorite accessory: The Gumdrop pacifier.

About the pacifiers
BabyHaven.com sells Gumdrops by the dozens and now Target, Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory sells them too.
