The making of a fashionista

Style by Chilo is a baby fashion blog all about my niece, Chilo.

I’m a first time aunt, so when my sister uttered the words, “It’s a girl” I went into a shopping frenzy that would make even the likes of Mariah Carey say, “woah.”

I never knew shopping for someone other than myself would be this fun. Little shoes. Little hats. Little dresses. And skirts and tutus and headbands and onesies and tops and toys and whew! Keep in mind I did all of this before she was born.

So when her delivery date arrived (11-10-2010) I was beyond estactic. There sitting in my arms was my very own dress up doll. What I didn’t expect was her response to the clothes. She pulls off each ensemble I put her in effortlessly, with a style and grace that would make even the most fashion conscious fashionista take notice.

Chilo’s closet is packed with flirty dresses, classic separates, band tees, sports gear, and lots and lots of tutus and hats (everything from fedoras to sunhats to bucket hats and baseball caps). She rocks both well known and lesser known designers. And since I’m not hung up on brand labels, she won’t be either.

Since Chilo has way too much fashion spunk to be contained within the walls of our immediate family, I decided to start this blog—to share with the world what I already know: Chilo packs a mean fashion punch.
